CPH:CONFERENCE | ARTISTS & AUTEURS
A discussion with ASIF KAPADIA
Asif Kapadia likes a good challenge whether he’s working in fiction, documentary or in between. When making his biography Senna (2010), he made the bold choice to stick exclusively to archival footage to tell the race car driver’s story. For his Oscar-winning portrait of Amy Winehouse, he transformed our understanding of a life distorted by tabloid journalism. His new film Creature (2022), playing at CPH:DOX, captures a dance performance choreographed by Akram Khan in a way that “succeeds in making dance feel accessible and intimate” (Deadline). Kapadia will discuss this new work and why he pushes himself to try new things.

DOX:SOCIETY X CPH:DOX | QUEERING THE INDUSTRY
Join Doc Society’s Queer Now Lab to hear from leaders in the genderqueer film space about their thoughts on LGBTQ+ storytelling: where we’ve been, where we’re going, and where we need to be. What do filmmakers want from the field? What kinds of stories are useful to the queer rights movement? We’ll dig in deep for a candid conversation.
