A curious and warm tribute to health science and the people who heal us: Doctors, young and old, and those in touch with the beyond.
You may not think about it often, but health science has its own history of ideas. With impressive insight, ‘Healers’ paints a warm and empathetic picture of healing practices with a keen eye for the human lives behind it. Director Marie-Eve Hildebrand (the animation hit ‘My Life as a Courgette’) follows her doctor father in his final days before retirement calls, as he generously shares a lifetime of experiences. Without much arm-twisting, philosophical questions are asked about healing as a phenomenon. For is healing more than just getting well? And what about the alternatives to Western medical textbooks? Along the way, we meet the patients who will miss him, a doubting medical student who goes to a healer to blow worries into an egg, and the robot that one day stands ready to take over his job.
