The legendary Chelsea Hotel in New York City is under renovation. From behind every door of the mythological tower of babel, old ghosts and great stories appear.
Dylan Thomas, Oscar Wilde, Patti Smith, Salvador Dali, Janis Joplin, Andy Warhol. They have all stayed at the legendary Chelsea Hotel in New York. But the big guns have long since checked out, leaving a hard core of regulars and eccentrics in the company of the workmen who have struggled for years to renovate the ramshackle hotel. In a witty and unsentimental tone, we are given a guided tour of the urban anthill, led by dancer Merle, who has held out since the days when artists could actually afford to live in Manhattan. There is a story behind every door, and it’s a good one every time.
