BOOK RECEPTION: MARGARET TAIT
120 min
Book reception for the first Danish translation of the texts of filmmaker and poet Margaret Tait.
Although the Scottish doctor, poet and filmmaker Margaret Tait (1918-1999) is one of the unique voices of poetry and film, she was largely overlooked during her lifetime. Over the past decades, much work has been done to restore, digitise and present her films in several major retrospectives and book publications. Today, Margaret Tait is an inspiration to a new generation of filmmakers and writers, including cinema actress Charlotte Wells (‘Aftersun’), author Ali Smith and artist Luke Fowler. ‘Margaret Tait: Noter om film og poesi’ marks the first Danish translation of Tait’s own writings and opinions on her films. In the texts one senses an uncompromising artist whose work unfolded in a unique intersection between poetry and film.
