Law and order above all else. For children with extreme right-wing parents, the question of where their political opinions come from is neither relativistic nor abstract. One gets the same answer to all questions, namely that one has to love and honour one's nation and fear others. The children learn to hate everything alien. 'Little Germans' is told from the children's own perspective, in beautiful, hand-painted animations. Who do they want to grow up to become? And are our political opinions solely a matter of indoctrination, or are we free to break with the values we have grown up with. And can we even allow ourselves to interfere with the way other people raise their children? There is plenty of food for thought in Mohammad Farokhmanesh and Frank Geiger's film, which casts an understanding light on an overlooked and problematic topic in the political domain, at a time when right-wing populism is booming.
