Two homeless dogs are the protagonists in a gem of a film from a skatepark in Chile, where a simple idea is turned into magical everyday poetry.
Chola and Football are best friends. Two homeless dogs, who have found a home in a skater park in urban Chile. You see the whole film through the eyes of the two scruffy mongrels, and both heartbreaking drama and great emotions are at play. The park is frequented by young men, who are forever chatting about their never-ending problems with their parents, at school and with drugs. We hear them, but we never see them, as the film's undivided attention is on the two dogs, in a charming and formally exquisite gem of a film, which elevates its simple but very original idea to magical heights. The directing duo Bettina Perut and Iván Osnovikoff portray the animals' reality in tightly framed total shots and sensual close-ups, which stand in opposition to the dog's lives of the two protagonists. A film filled with finely registered details and magical everyday poetry. And a tribute to the art of observing the beauty that takes place right in front of us.
