The frost is biting on the streets of Copenhagen, and therefore today’s news from CPH:DOX, Smash! Bang! Pow! and Absalon comes as a warming surprise. In March, both invite you to a velvety, ambient and atmospheric evening in the cosy environment of Absalon.
Two of the strongest upcoming names from both the local and international scene will fill the Absalon church with smooth tones and swirling visuals in a unique audio-visual sensory experience.
Spherical and atmospheric
Danish IRAH are known for their spherical sound, lead singer Stine Grøn’s crystal clear and soft vocals and sophisticated electronic compositions – think Enya and Björk with a teaspoon of Portishead. IRAH began performing in 2015 and quickly gained a loyal fan base and media attention in Denmark. At their Absalon concert IRAH will also present a specially created visual to accompany the concert.
The evening’s other performer, Itasca, will also create a cinematic backdrop for the concert. The singer, Kayla Cohen, is working on self-made project “consisting of old film strips and new pictures” to accompany Itasca’s soundtrack, which is buried deep in the American folk tradition. Itasca’s sound is a mix of acoustic guitar, drums and pedal steel reminiscent of the American West, but seasoned with an atmospheric layer that takes the music out of time and space.
The double concert is part of CPH:DOX’s concert programme, AUDIO:VISUALS, which connects musical performances with different types of visuals in carefully chosen locations.
