Mathilde Walter Clark introduces ‘Animality’

Before the screening of Ai Weiwei’s new documentary ‘Animality,’ Mathilde Walter Clark, author of ‘The Blind Eye’, will introduce and discuss the film’s themes, which focus on humans’ relationship to and use of animals, in conversation with journalist and author Mikkel Frey Damgaard. The film shows different aspects of the relationship between humans and animals through strong and raw scenes from around the world. From cattle production in Brazil, camels in Egypt and whales in Indonesia to mink in Denmark, the film examines humans’ collective entanglement and connection to and with animals. The film shows in harsh and detailed detail humans’ use and abuse of animals. The conversation before the film will discuss aspects of humans’ ability to put themselves first and animals in the background in our stories and self-understanding.
