Calling all European female filmmakers: the brand new IF/Then short documentary competition, is now open for project submissions!
Tribeca Film Institute, in partnership with CPH:DOX, are currently seeking short documentary projects directed by European, female filmmakers for the brand new IF/Then programme. The programme is developed by Tribeca Film Institute with seed funding from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Its goal is to discover and empower more inclusive voices in short film storytelling, give wider access to thoughtful stories from people of all backgrounds and enhance the understanding and appreciation of our differences.
6 projects will be selected for a pitch competition, which will be held in Copenhagen during CPH:DOX in March 2017. The winner will be selected by a professional jury and receives USD 20.000 in production support from IF/Then as well as mentorship, promotion, and social engagement tools needed to connect the story to global, mobile audiences. The focus for the Copenhagen event will be female European voices.
We encourage every female filmmaker from across Europe with strong stories to tell to submit their projects. Projects can be in any stage of production (from development through post-production). However, there are a few criteria to fulfil:
- You are a female, European resident
- Your project is driven by (a) compelling character(s)
- Your project is an original short film
- Your documentary will be in English or delivered subtitled
- Your documentary will have a duration of 20-25 mins.
- Your documentary can be produced within one year of receiving the grant
